Visiting Associate Professor

University of Gloucestershire

I have been a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Gloucestershire since October 2024. I support the research environment and contribute to the scholarly field of physical education and teacher education.

Associate Editor

Journal of Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy

As an Associate Editor, I work closely with the Editorial Board to support the peer review process, which involves identifying and inviting peer reviewers, overseeing the review of manuscripts, and making editorial recommendations.

AIESEP’s Primary/Elementary Physical Education SIG

As a founding member and member of the SIG’s executive team, I support advocacy, communication and development of the SIG’s community. The mission of the Primary/ Elementary PE-SIG is to create a dedicated space for active networking and scholarly activities by AIESEP members with an interest in issues relating to primary/ elementary physical education.

Department for Education

From January 2025, I was an invited member of the ​​PE, Sport and Physical Activity Research and Evaluation Programme Advisory Group.

Expert Subject Advisory Group

In 2013 (until 2016), I was a founding member of the Physical Education Expert Subject Advisory Group (ESAG), supporting the implementation of the new Physical Education curriculum alongside sector representatives. My role in the group was to represent primary physical education initial teacher education.

Primary Physical Education Assembly (PPEA)

The PPEA is a virtual space where we work as a collective of professionals who want to KNOW, DO and INSPIRE primary physical education. This collective was estabished in 2021 by Dr Gerald Griggs, Dr Vicky Randall and supported by Dr Kristy Howells.

Hon. Member of the All-Party Parliamntary Group on a Fit and Healthy Childhood

I have supported numerous reports for the APPG on a Fit and Healthy Childhood, as a co-chair, written contributor and speaker. Two reports I was invovled in commisioning were the Primary PE and Sport Premium report (2019) and the report on Mental Health Through Movement (2019).
